TRANSATLANTICA for VISTA ALEGRE

Vista Alegre is one of the most traditional factories of porcelain from Portugal which dates from 1824 and has a long history of making quality porcelain over the centuries. The pieces were developed during 2012 in the factory, at a residency program for designers called ID POOL, which invite selected designers to a full immersion in the factory to discover porcelain production methods .

The motifs are a collage of the elements that show both, brazilian and portughese cultures, using icons of an imaginary transatlantic crossing that connects these two countries, that share centuries of history together. Using tile work and rescuing several iconographic images from the archives of the factory, Jahara mixes also contemporary elements such as a popsicle, a hand gun, boats, stars and sea horses, creating a hybrid of traditional and new.

Transatlantica is a full range of plates, serving trays, pots and a tea and coffee service, plus new shapes designed by Jahara, two water jars and two large containers with lids completes the collection.
